I am Gocha Okreshidze, a lawyer based in Tbilisi, Georgia. I hold degrees from Tbilisi State University and the University of Illinois, where I am currently pursuing my doctoral studies. I have handled over 300 litigations and facilitated more than 200 business registrations in Georgia. I teach and publish in bankruptcy, conflict of laws, law and economics, and the philosophy of law. My goal is to create a fully AI-driven, 24/7 online legal services company that helps people worldwide and attracts top legal minds.

In the sultry month of August in the tumultuous year of 2020, I embarked on a groundbreaking entrepreneurial journey, founding AI Law. My pioneering mission is to create a fully digital law firm that under the banner of AI Law provides top-quality legal services to clients across the globe, all from the comfort of their own homes.
Before embarking on my entrepreneurial journey, I achieved my Bachelor's Degree in Law (magna cum laude) with a GPA of 3.9, ranking 4th among all the graduates of 2015 from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). While studying at TSU, I achieved laurels by winning the Moot Court in Private Law, organized by the European Law Students' Association, and the Annual National Commercial Law Moot Court organized by the Free University of Tbilisi. Furthermore, I was a part of the World Universities Comparative Law Project organized by international law firm Allen & Overy and represented the TSU team at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, organized by UNCITRAL.
In 2016, my thirst for knowledge propelled me to pursue my studies abroad. My credentials were recognized by nineteen prestigious universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, and continental Europe, including Brunel University London, UC Davis School of Law, Institute for Law and Finance of Frankfurt, King's College London, New England Law Boston, Northeastern University, University of Aberdeen, University of Birmingham, UC Hastings College of Law, University of Edinburgh, Boston College Law School, University of Glasgow, University of Leicester, University of Nottingham, Queen Mary University of London, University of San Diego School of Law, Widener University Delaware Law School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I was awarded scholarships totaling $146,950 and £27,095 from these institutions. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, College of Law, where I was fortunate enough to be a part of an alma mater of 24 Nobel Prize laureates and 29 Pulitzer Prize winners. The College of Law is consistently ranked as one of the top law schools in the US by U.S. News & World Report, and the university itself is ranked №22 in the world by the Center for World University Rankings. During my time at UIUC, I was bestowed the CALI Excellence for the Future Award twice - in Contracts and Constitutional Law.
I've been practicing law since 2013, starting my journey at Human Rights Priority, the then-leading non-governmental human rights organization led by Lia Mukhashavria. For a brief period in 2014, I worked as a visiting researcher at the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, Analytical Department where I worked on freedom of information and personal data protection issues. I've been an associate attorney at the BLC Law Office since 2015 until July 2020, successfully handling hundreds of complex litigations and representing clients in transactional matters. In 2020, I was elected as the General Counsel for the prominent Georgian hospitality company City Loft; concurrently, I also held the position of Counsel to the General Counsel at Adjaragroup. In 2021, I assumed the role of Legal Director and Partner at the Georgian law firm BB Legal.
Apart from my law practice, I impart knowledge as an invited lecturer at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, where I teach courses in Private International Law and International Civil Litigation. My works are regularly published in the Georgian-German Comparative Law Journal. In June 2023, I became the Head Coach of the TSU Vis Moot team. I successfully guided the team to the top 32, earning the Eric E. Bergsten Award for Best Team Orals, Honorable Mentions I, and setting a new record in Georgian history. Given the lack of a winning tradition and numerous challenges from all sides, I consider this victory one of my most incredible and seemingly impossible achievements.
Right now, I am pursuing my PhD studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, under the guidance of Prof. Ralph Brubaker, who is considered one of the leading bankruptcy scholars of his generation in the US.
